We spent the weekend in Kentucky
with Hannah & Jeremy & our grandest kids
under the bluest of skies!
A picture perfect fall-like weekend.
We visited Fort Boonesborough originally called Fort Boone
The fort was established in April 1775 by Daniel Boone!
We experienced a rifle demo
(as I examined how his costume was designed…ha
that’s the Project Runway in me!)
We saw some pretty laid baaa-ck sheep
We counted our MANY modern day blessings
Thank you Lord!
We were blown away by the loom and the weaver.
It took her 4 years to learn to loom weave.
Her work was inspiring and beautiful.
We learned how to work the tools
in the cabinet makers woodshop.
We exercised using the equipment
which explained why
pioneers didn’t have weight problems!
We had A LOT of fun!
Joe’s dental hands
showed us how they work magic…
Hand carving a cherry spindle.
In fact, this reenactor wants to
hand carve a wedding bowl for Hannah and Jeremy
from the apple tree wood Jeremy is donating!
HOW SWEET would that be?
We smelled the scent of freshly poured candles
We learned about maps
before there was MapQuest & Garmin.
We also learned that these reenactors
do not call their outfits “costumes”.
I stand corrected!
They are their actual “clothes”.
Evelyn rested and ate a rock candy sucker
to gear up for our hike :)
