Why I Love Being A Mom

TODAY, May 7th

Twenty-one years ago…

my only son, Parker Joseph

was born by caesarean section.

The note I am holding reads…

“Hello, PARKER!

April 24, 1989

7# 3 oz?”

I posed for this picture

after the only ultrasound I ever had.

The only reason I had the ultrasound was to determine his size.

The ultrasound specs determined his fetal weight was 7# 3 oz.

Abby was 9#2oz and I delivered her completely natural and drug-free.

Ignorance was definitely bliss through that 12hr labor.

Hannah was 9#9oz and a c-section.

The Drs. didn’t think I was that big this pregnancy…so I could deliver v-back.

WHAT?? Were they blind??

I was HUGE and that was 13 days before Parker was even born!!

I woke up May 7, 1989 to be induced.

I took this picture before leaving for the hospital,

of our snow covered back yard,

some how I knew

it would NEVER snow again

on his birthday.

God blanketed the Earth before He blanketed my Son.

He lovingly gave me two miracles that day!

By the way,

the ultrasound specs were off by 3 pounds!

Parker weighed 10# 3 oz!!

That’s why I needed a c-section.

I have UNCONDITIONALLY loved my son

since the very first time I held him in my arms.

The same can be said about his beaming, devoted dad.

Joe was thrilled to have a son.

surgery 041

And the same can be said of Abby.

She had a cold but I insisted she come to Toledo Hospital anyway.

surgery 051

And the same can be said of Hannah.

She has always been Parker’s 2nd mother whether he’s liked it or not.

surgery 055

Grandma Barbara was “tickled” that after FIVE darling granddaughters…

she had another grandson.

One who would bring honor and carry on the FULTON name.

Parker hasn’t disappointed her.

surgery 042

Grandma Groscost came to Toledo Hospital too to visit.

Parker knew looking at her

that she would always deeply love him.

surgery 046

For the past 21 years…

I have cared for Parker

and he has cared for me.

surgery 045

Joe has always “carried him” on his shoulders…

even when he was painfully heavy.

surgery 048

When Parker was little…

he took a shovel and began to dig to China.

Maybe, he was digging for oil??

God must have been preparing him

for Petroleum Engineering.

surgery 037

God has richly blessed me these past 21 years

through my son, Parker.

There is no greater gift than being a MOM.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mommies-to-be.

surgery 058

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, PARKER JOSEPH!

To say I Love You has always been an understatement…

You are one of three reasons Why I Love Being A Mom.

Thanks be to God :)
