Why Boy’s Shoes

flowers 155

People have been so generous to Abby.

One kindergartner’s mom gave her

these shoes for little Landry.

They sure bring back memories

of my kid’s first walkers

always from Stride Rite.

flowers 156

I can’t wait to see him

in these nubuck saddle shoes.

Won’t he look like a preppy collegiate?

Heart melting, aren’t they?

flowers 157

Hannah gave her nephew these

puppy slippers.

Thinking of Landry

in jammies and these puppy slippers

sitting on my lap while I read him

Goodnight Moon….

makes me feel so blessed.

flowers 154

AND saving the best for last

are his first pair of cowboy boots

from Grandma and Grandpa Streit.

They are the sweetest twosome

in the State of Texas

and THEY are Landry’s grandparents!

Now….

if these boots don’t make you

love a cowboy

I don’t know what will :)

Why London Is Calling

Picture 131

Michael Jackson died

and I was in London.

The Queen’s band played

THRILLER and MAN IN THE MIRROR.

Breaking with such stiff protocol

gave my friends and I

goosebumps.

Picture 130

THEN…

My friends, Kelly and Nancy

helped me find Nina Campbell’s store.

I am in love with her parakeet design wallpaper

and I was dying to see it in person.

In fact, I finally ordered that wallpaper and

it’s going to be hung in my house this Thursday.

My friends will be happy to know

I didn’t completely waste their time.

Picture 129

Visiting Nina Campbell’s store was exciting.

You can see Nancy  (in that mirror

on the desk) but she looks so good

at 1st I thought it was just a picture…

then….I realize “Hey, it’s Nancy!”

Picture 132

We explored the streets of London

and found the neighborhood

Kelly’s brother called home for years.

I can see why he lived here…

I loved London even more than Paris!

Picture 142

It was so sweet!

I took a picture of this stately door

because a paper wedding bell was hanging on it.

It was such a cool touch.

Maybe they were newlyweds?

Maybe they hung it there for me to see…

so I could repeat that look for a bridal shower?

How cute!

Picture 136

The boys told us that they wanted to surprise us.

We let them…

especially since they made that request

in HARROD’s.

I spied on them so I could capture those

MEN on a MISSION  at the candy counter.

They bought us chocolate :)

Picture 137

It was a very delicious candy counter.

My  cupcake BLOG picture

was taken at HARROD’s too.

I tried to buy a cupcake but the line was too long

so I took the photograph instead.

Picture 140

MORE beautiful then the candy displays

are the fresh flowers for sale on many street corners.

That’s the stuff that blows you away in Europe….

all the fresh flowers for sale.

Europeans obviously

“take time to smell the roses”

more then we do. SAD, isn’t it?

We are missing out!

Fresh flowers and London

are two of the sweetest things :)

Why Old Churches Are Sweet

2009145_2263

What is it about old churches

that take my breath away?

I attend and enjoy a fabulous church

but part of me wishes I was

Laura Ingold on Sundays.

My church is new.

Therefore,

it doesn’t have character..

BUT  it definitely has Christ

which is ALL that truly matters

But old churches just occupy a sacred part in my heart.

churchatsugarhillNH

O’ yellow door church

I deeply appreciate your architecture

and history YOU hold.

YOU are so irresistable that I can hardly stand it!

IF YOU were my “home” church

I would wear hats and gloves

every Sunday…

that would coordinate with your

happy yellow door.

firstcongregationalchurchlitchfieldCT

O’ church in New England.

Your steeple against the blue sky

points to God.

YOU are beautiful.

For some reason…

I see in YOU……

what America used to be like…

Pure and holy.

I couldn’t imagine spending

a snowy Christmas Eve with you.

The mere sight of YOU

leaves me speechless.

Speechless.

chapel-choir-130x209

O’ dream church in SC

I wish Hannah and Jeremy could say their vows

within your arched windows

and wooden pews.

But it’s not to be.

YOU and I in July.

YOU are the perfect size to ME

but our family is too big for YOU

You sit so peacefully

on the banks of the May River.

I pray that the people

who use YOU

truly appreciate YOU…

like I would.

Are we really over :)

Why Sweat The Small Stuff

Planning a memorable wedding…

requires details

that tell you a story about

the BRIDE & GROOM

39560023

I am doing much research these days

because

Hannah & Jeremy

have such a love story to tell.

6a00e55391c48e88330133edecb38c970b

I want every guest

to know their story,

to know who they are

through every detail and

to feel their LOVE.

2009145_2263

To know Christ is at the center

of their relationship.

That …

in all honesty…

their vows & their marriage is

all that matters to both of them.

The RECEPTION…

is mostly just for me. (haha)

So I can use all these ideas in my head

that have been collecting

all these fabulous years :)

Why I Haven’t Posted

I am sorry if you have missed me.

I have missed you :)

783B4D3F4FF8E36565740FDC49973

I have been so consumed….

thinking of little boys,

traveling to Texas and

bevfabriccrafts_2105_87893561

wedding whereabouts,

and wedding whens,

ifs, ands, and buts.

That I haven’t had time

to share what

I am lovin’ these days.

lg

Just for the record…

I am certainly lovin’ baby nurseries…

Cozy cribs, wonderful onesies

and baby boy belongings

that make my heart smile.

italian wedding table

and white wedding tents

on a blanket of grass

filled with long banquet tables

and love and laughter

that make me wish

I had…

just one more daughter :)

Why I Am Picking Peonies

flowers 108

I love peonies.

But when they bloom…

they do it all at once.

flowers 109

I dried peony petals last summer.

And I’ve decided to do it again

for a special someone’s wedding.

flowers 110

So I am drying them on a

double-decker cart

in the garage.

flowers 115

In make shift vases a.k.a.utility buckets

in the basement stairwell

filled to the brim.

flowers 114

On my kitchen window sill.

flowers 113

On my skirted tabletop.

flowers 112

As they start to drop their petals.

I lay the petals out on window screens.

So… I have screens of drying peony petals

in my living room…

flowers 111

In my foyer…haha

flowers 116

In my basement

flowers 117

OK… I have TWO in my basement!

flowers 118

And more are waiting for me..

outside!!

Sure hope the church

lets us throw them :)
