Why I Love Being A Mom

TODAY, May 7th

Twenty-one years ago…

my only son, Parker Joseph

was born by caesarean section.

surgery 057

The note I am holding reads…

“Hello, PARKER!

April 24, 1989

7# 3 oz?”

I posed for this picture

after the only ultrasound I ever had.

The only reason I had the ultrasound was to determine his size.

The ultrasound specs determined his fetal weight was 7# 3 oz.

Abby was 9#2oz and I delivered her completely natural and drug-free.

Ignorance was definitely bliss through that 12hr labor.

Hannah was 9#9oz and a c-section.

The Drs. didn’t think I was that big this pregnancy…so I could deliver v-back.

WHAT?? Were they blind??

I was HUGE and that was 13 days before Parker was even born!!

surgery 035

I woke up May 7, 1989 to be induced.

I took this picture before leaving for the hospital,

of our snow covered back yard,

some how I knew

it would NEVER snow again

on his birthday.

God blanketed the Earth before He blanketed my Son.

He lovingly gave me two miracles that day!

By the way,

the ultrasound specs were off by 3 pounds!

Parker weighed 10# 3 oz!!

That’s why I needed a c-section.

surgery 039

I have UNCONDITIONALLY loved my son

since the very first time I held him in my arms.

surgery 040

The same can be said about his beaming, devoted dad.

Joe was thrilled to have a son.

surgery 041

And the same can be said of Abby.

She had a cold but I insisted she come to Toledo Hospital anyway.

surgery 051

And the same can be said of Hannah.

She has always been Parker’s 2nd mother whether he’s liked it or not.

surgery 055

Grandma Barbara was “tickled” that after FIVE darling granddaughters…

she had another grandson.

One who would bring honor and carry on the FULTON name.

Parker hasn’t disappointed her.

surgery 042

Grandma Groscost came to Toledo Hospital too to visit.

Parker knew looking at her

that she would always deeply love him.

surgery 046

For the past 21 years…

I have cared for Parker

and he has cared for me.

surgery 045

Joe has always “carried him” on his shoulders…

even when he was painfully heavy.

surgery 048

When Parker was little…

he took a shovel and began to dig to China.

Maybe, he was digging for oil??

God must have been preparing him

for Petroleum Engineering.

surgery 037

God has richly blessed me these past 21 years

through my son, Parker.

There is no greater gift than being a MOM.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mommies-to-be.

surgery 058

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, PARKER JOSEPH!

To say I Love You has always been an understatement…

You are one of three reasons Why I Love Being A Mom.

Thanks be to God :)

Why I Appreciate My Teacher

Abby is my favorite Kindergarten teacher.

Joe and I visited her classroom in November.

Picture 022

Her students were

the sweetest things.

Picture 034

I had so much fun reading to them.

I was their  “Mystery Reader”

Picture 040

Joe became emotional

watching Abby teach.

She has such a God-given gift

that it’s hard not to be in awe of her.

Picture 041

In a few short years,

Abby has touched many children’s lives.

There is no doubt…

that none of her students will EVER

forget their Kindergarten teacher;

Mrs. Streit:)

Why Stripes

What do you think of

painting stripes on the ceiling?

HouseBeautiful-4-234x300

I think it gives a cute, cabana feel.

How about stripes on the ceiling and the walls?

habitually_chic-1-234x300

Adds a lot of whimsy.

The sweetest girl’s bathroom.

Adorable little GIRLS!

I bet they love their little step stools.

How about these striped turquoise walls?

Pretty with the pink accents.

OR this striped room…

I can’t imagine all the taping and measuring

it takes to paint perfect stripes.

Think this job took a little patience?

Maybe it’s wallpaper :)

but what’s on the floor?

Why Bathe

Pretty bath tubs.

I put one in my bathroom.

And I love it!

surgery 026

But who knew…

that bath tubs aren’t just for bathing?

Now…

I’d say, those are my favorite

kind of “bubbles”

CHEERS :)

Why Tulle Is Cool

DSC00707_0179

The tulle bridal chair skirt…

I designed

has been getting some very special use.

It was christened at Ashley’s

bridal shower.

brittany's bridal shower 001

Then my niece, Brittany’s bridal shower.

Picture 025

Although, you can’t see it…

it traveled in my carry-on (didn’t want it lost)

to Texas for Amber’s baby shower.

Picture 244

And Laura found it so couture

she modeled it for our future “business card”…

A bridal design studio called;

LOVE AFFAIRE”

Picture 256

Hannah modeled it too :)

I love the tulle skirt on a chair but WOW! it’s even better on someone’s body!!

Don’t you agree??

And how about my hydrangeas?

Along with peonies…they are my favorite flowers :)

May  your week be blessed with the sweetest things.

Why Wear Sunscreen

I regret ruining my pretty blog with ugly things

but I feel I need to educate.

Yesterday ..

I had squamous cell carcinoma removed from my nose.

The good news is..all the cancer is gone.

And the bad news is…

surgery 011

And the worst news is…

sun tanning is not safe!

surgery 013

12 stitches later…

maybe I can save you from the same ordeal.

Wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure between 10am-4pm.

YEP…that is most of the day!

Prayers for no scarring would be deeply appreciated :)
