Ricky Rocks

This is one of the homes Ricky built in Fort Worth Texas.

Ricky is Abby’s mother-in-law’s brother.

He and his beautiful family is living here until they complete the home he is currently revamping.

Ricky is a very talented & successful builder who has never had to advertise.

The preceding photos will show you why.

This $6million+ home took a couple years to build.

Not only does Ricky build homes…he completely does all the decorating!

Every LITTLE thing that you see in these pictures was hand selected by Ricky.

The original home where the front door is was saved and added on to.

The 3 colored glass windows begin the new addition.

Foyer. Front door very unassuming.

Concrete pillars. Too die for.

 

Ricky always builds a home that you can see through=front to back from the front door.

Off the right in the foyer is this beautiful room.

The sofa tables were built by Ricky’s team from extra lumber and whitewashed like the beamed ceiling.

These 2 windows face a private courtyard.

Dining Room: Monochromatic masterpiece!

Ricky’s team built the table.

The little lilac hairclips on the orchids sparkled in the sunlight.

Colored glass windows are perfectly placed in few areas.

These float above the staircase.

The colored glass casts a rainbow on the walls.

Hallway to Master Suite.

Excuse me? Do I need to come over and perform CPR on you yet??

If not…come over and revive me!

Only other place with colored glass accents is in the Master Suite hallway.

Master Suite: Soothing.

Sophie is showing Abby the similarities between Catherine and Cinderella’s wedding on the computer.

Abby has one of Sophie’s bows in her hair. Everything IS bigger in Texas.

Master Bath: Just one side.

It was too hard to take the whole thing. Which is a total bummer because if you saw it…you would be calling 911!

Greatest ceiling in the Great room.

The detail is unreal. This is all reclaimed wood.

It was such a peaceful place even at 8,000 sq ft?? Sorry, I don’t have pictures of the upstairs or downstairs because I was just actually trying to enjoy it.

Keep Calm

Ever wonder what’s up with this trendy saying?

In 1939,  {at the beginning of WWII}

these posters were originally produced by the British government,to improve the country’s morale.

Who knew that they weren’t a Ballard Design? Hmmm?

Lately, there are many spin offs.

I thought I’d share a few.

I must remember this one.

Parakeet Paint

Wanted: The perfect color blue-green  paint.

That matches the background of my Parakeet wallpaper.

I am considering Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams.

 

It goes nicely with Dover White which is a great white.

The Wheat Grass is nice in the mix too.

In a lightless room like a bathroom it is probably less pastel.

Another interesting color I am researching is Pale Silver via Restoration Hardware:

Looks very similar to Sea Salt.

Can’t wait to compare them side by side.

Again, Pale Silver’s truer color reveals itself in less light.

Heading to Sherwin Williams today

and I’ll hit up Restoration Hardware next week in Dallas.

I am also having paint matched to the wallpaper background.

I’ll share what I find.

Hopefully, one of these colors will be perfect :)

Makeover Magic

Before: Seeing this 106 year old NY farmhouse caught my eye.

After all, Joe and I have been joking (but with wishful thinking)

about moving out to the country.

After: A lifesaving makeover but…

I would have kept it a shade of yellow and replaced the shingles with a tin roof.

Before: The home’s staircase.

After: Amazing restoration.

The picture below is from the HGTV series; Sarah's House. She completely redid an old farmhouse. It was fabulous.

I think numbered stairs are so cute.

Red Robin’s Egg Blue

I have never been a huge fan of red.

I blame it on my childhood…

My oldest sister always received the blue colored items to match her blue eyes.

My next sister always received the green colored items to match her green eyes.

And I always was stuck with red because they said it matched my eyes from crying.

No doubt that teasing scarred me towards the color red :)

 

However, now paired with Robin’s Egg blue…red becomes my favorite color.

I have been helping Hannah pull together some decorating ideas.

With the help of Country Living,

I made up this storyboard for her.

Storyboards are great way to visualize your space.

Hannah loves Robin’s Egg blue and think a splash of red could add a splash of fun.

Like this vintage sign.

A touch of blue comes from the tea cups and counter canister.

Tomato soup and tray.

 

Red towels serve a dual purpose in this bathroom.

Teeny touches of red are all you need.

I threw in these pictures so you could imagine a bit of red in these blue spaces.

 

Even with a lot of red this room is pretty.

 

 

These periwinkle walls are way too much for me…

but the rest of the furnishings are down home comfy.

Imagine how much better it would be if the walls were neutral.

 

 

Maybe this clock from Pier One is all the red Hannah’s living room needs :)

Vintage Jewel

As I was leaving the Royal Wedding breakfast,

I spotted a vision in yellow.

These pictures don’t do the shade of yellow total justice.

My friend was wearing this stunning vintage coat.

 

It stopped me in my tracks…

it was one of the prettiest coats I have ever seen.

The coat industry needs to remake this coat…
